We have been working in partnership with this customer for 15 years now, they provide infrastructure, broadcast transmission and smart meter facilities in the UK. This particular project involved the build of a VHF disaster combiner transportable.
Our broadcast experts were deployed to the customer’s premises in Daventry to work on a transmitter transportable and build a new combiner transportable.
Firstly, we completely stripped out the combiner transportable of old combiners etc, installed a new SIRA combiner system and new interconnecting rigid lines. Our team also fitted temporary x-site LCF (Foam) and HCA (Air) feeders to connect between the combiner transportable and the transmitter transportable. Lastly, 2 test loads were also connected so they can power and test the combiner transportable.
Our team have been on and off site completing the transportable for about 7 weeks, now complete it will admit VHF radio signal and provide coverage for the BBC.
The new transportable is fully mobile and can easily be deployed to any of our customers transmitting sites. Should a site go down, due to issues such as damaged feeders, faulty equipment etc. Their team can then quickly install the transportable to the damaged site and bring it back online again without disrupting the service.
