Leading communication and infrastructure services provider Virtua has partnered with our customer since 2019 to help build its next generation full fibre network.
We are undertaking several projects with our customer throughout the UK, these particular projects involved the installation of new superfast fibre. The sites are located in the city of Bristol, the first an apartment complex and the second an elderly care home.
The first one is called Invisilight, it’s a discrete solution easy-to-install and almost invisible fiber drop connections for the indoor living unit.
It’s a very small cable (a few millimetres wide) with 12 fibres within, that is installed using a special glue.
The cable will be glued where the wall meets the ceiling and pinned above entrance, fire doors and corners using special clips that will hold the cable in case of fire.
Above each door a small breakout box will be installed with a fibre spliced ready to be used for the residents once they require the service.
The second one is called EzBend. It’s a plug and play solution with a dedicated fibre cable that will be installed above the ceiling and left coiled above the apartment.
This particular solution is usually used if the premises has got accessible ceiling tiles that can be accessed.
Once the installations were complete, the engineers then connected the newly installed fibre cable to a central fibre node from Openreach’s existing local exchange, making the network live and ready for use.
This installation will now ensure the residents have access to ultrafast broadband, with speeds of up to 1GB, ten times faster than average speeds today.
Our work with Openreach is ongoing, helping them to install their FTTH solutions across the UK.
